April was the month we graced the presence of the Belmond Jimbaran Puri Hotel located on the Jimbaran beach, after spending two weeks in Bali we needed a beach getaway for some relaxation. Jimbaran is known for having a calmer beach compared to the rest of the Bali, we have been tackling waves during our stay so we were excited about a place where we could easily swim.
Arrival at the Belmond Jimbaran Puri
We arrived in a courtesy shuttle minivan provided by the Rocky Ferries boat company as we had just come from Nusa Lembongan. As soon as we stepped out of the minivan we were greeted with smiles and the helpful staff took our luggage to the reception. We were shown the bell at the entrance it is a Balinese tradition to hit the bell three times to announce that we have arrived.
The reception area is beautifully presented, an open space that allows the light to flow in, and the sounds of the ocean brings a sense of calmness. The check-in process is straightforward and we enjoyed a delicious welcome drink. As we were early, our deluxe villa was still being prepared for us but they kindly stored our luggage and allowed us to experience the resort.
The White Sands of Jimbaran Beach
The Belmond Jimbaran Puri was the first hotel on the white sands of Jimbaran beach. The glorious views from the restaurants are arguably some of the best views to enjoy while eating a delicious meal. The ocean is a lot calmer here which allows for a relaxing time, and it is easy to swim around here without big waves. The beautifully comfortable sun loungers are dotted along the beach in front of the Belmond. The beach is public but not crowded, short walks along the beach are wonderful especially at sunset. We enjoyed walking along the beach and trying the food at the many seafood cafes on the beach. We even tried body boarding which is actually pretty fun and the boards are complimentary for guests. There is also the chance to learn to paddle board and canoe.
Make a Splash in the Swimming Pool
The large freshwater swimming pool is in the heart of the resort at Belmond, offering a tranquil oasis to cool off on a hot day, we loved jumping in. The sheer size of the pool meant that we had so much space for swimming, and with a wonderful view of the ocean, this pool is awesome. Sun loungers are dotted around the edge of the pool offering a comfortable place to sip on cocktails.
The Grounds at the Belmond Jimbaran Puri
We loved the hotel’s grounds, the gardens and greenery were simply beautiful, mixed with Balinese gates, and temples it is the perfect blend to create an interesting hotel. The lily pond graces the lobby area in fine green colour with wonderful flowers. The well-maintained gardens allowed for us to swing on the hammocks under shaded palm trees, and made for a nice walk each morning on the way to the beach and breakfast.
Food and Drink at the Belmond
There are two restaurants the Nelayan which is set on the beachfront and serves lunch and dinner with a choice of international dishes with a hint of Indonesian spices to make it more unique. We enjoyed a three-course meal on our first day which consisted of fried onion rings with calamari, quesadilla, beef burger and the catch of the day. The starter was large and we were very happy after eating it but the main meal was amazing, one of the finest burgers I have ever had and to make it even better is the breathtaking views of the beach. The dessert is just as good, very unique flavours that worked perfectly, pannacotta and a selection of sorbets. The cocktails from the Puri bar were very tasty and the staff were all too happy to recommend a great drink to try.
Breakfast is in the Tunjung restaurant, a large buffet which had a great range of food to choose from which we really enjoyed both mornings, always something new to try and old favourites like eggs and bacon to savour in. For lunch and dinner, they serve traditional Indonesian food. Lovely view of the lily pond and ocean in the distance.
One Bedroom Deluxe Pool Villa
We stayed in the one bedroom deluxe pool villa, what does it include? Well, the obvious is a private pool, and this is a beautiful pool with water flowing in from a well-designed fountain. The villa is completely private with its own wall that fits the style of the resort and a gate to enter. The large villa has a kingsize bed which is extremely comfortable, a bath with two sinks in the bathroom, a shower and an outside waterfall shower. We really enjoyed the comfortable sofa in the living room with a choice of many TV channels and lots of complimentary water bottles that is filtered on site. The outside had a pool, sun deck with loungers and a large wooden gazebo that had a bed on it; great for outdoor relaxing. The villa is incredibly peaceful and it is one of the best nights sleep we have had during our trip.
Uluwatu Sunset Cruise on the Dedari
Our first evening we took a trip with Belmond, on the Dedari which is Balinese for Sea angel. The Dedari is a traditional boat but had comfortable seating and a sun lounge decked area on the front. This is a two-hour cruise which took us along the coast from Jimbaran all the way to Uluwatu temple. We were able to see some awesome cliffs and beaches that showcased the rugged landscape along the coast. Once we arrived at the temple which is perched on the edge of the cliff the captain performed a sea blessing where we each had our own Canang Sari which is a basket with offerings that we let float on the ocean’s water while saying a prayer.
On the journey back we stopped in calm waters and jumped into the ocean and swam around while the sunsets in the distance, absolutely peaceful and quiet, just us and the ocean. We swam around for a while then boarded the boat to head back to the Belmond while watching the sun set behind us. Such a beautiful sunset and we thoroughly enjoyed the journey, and being able to lie back on the deck is such a nice feeling.
Overall our stay was awesome, we loved our private pool villa, the tranquil surroundings and the comfortable setting was perfect for our trip. It was a real treat that we wished could have lasted for longer, the glorious white sand beaches and the amazing breakfast made this stay an amazing one. If you get a chance to stay on the Jimbaran beach then we thoroughly recommend the Belmond resort for an outstanding stay. The friendly and helpful staff with big smiles are incredibly nice and make sure you are looked after.
Thanks, Belmond for an amazing stay, we were able to stay here in exchange for creating the Arrivedo guides.
