Spain, Barcelona

Barcelona was our little Christmas getaway, 4 nights spent with Nick’s parents in the beautiful city. We stayed in a hotel near the Camp Nou Football stadium (Hotel Spa Senator). We would definitely recommend this hotel, the spa was an amazing experience and we were able to go twice as Nick’s parents forgot to bring swimming costumes with them. Booking with teletext our holiday only cost £90/head including a 4* hotel and plane tickets. We bought 10 ride subway tickets and researched where we wanted to go: this included a lot of walking to places as well.

Some of our highlights were the view from the cable car (Telerefic Montjuic), chilling in the sunshine on the beach in December, Park Guell (definitely worth to see all the amazing architecture), going out for a big tapas buffet and seeing the incredible Sagrada Familia. The queues into Sagrada Familia were huge so we decided not to go inside.

On the first day while looking for a tapas restaurant we learnt that tapas can mean various food on a piece of bread (pincho). We didn’t know what we were getting and it didn’t fill us up very much. But when we found the buffet restaurant in the center of Barcelona the next day, we were very happy. Barcelona is one of our favorite cities so far because of the atmosphere, the beach and the architecture. Muchas gracias Barcelona.
